Fireboy and Watergirl is a co-operative puzzle platformer: guide both characters through the Forest Temple, collecting gems and avoiding hazards. Fire is safe for Fireboy but deadly for Watergirl, and water is the other way round.
Fireboy and Watergirl is one of the best-loved co-operative puzzle games you can play in a browser, and it works just as well on your own as it does with a friend. You control two characters at the same time, or take turns with a partner, and each one has their own strengths. Fireboy can walk through lava but melts in water, while Watergirl can swim through water but is destroyed by fire. Green pools are dangerous for both of them. Every level is a small puzzle: collect the coloured gems, press the buttons and levers, and get both characters to their exit doors. The clever part is that the two characters often need to help each other — one holds a button down so the other can pass, or one pushes a block the other needs to reach a ledge. The Forest Temple starts gently and teaches you the rules a few steps at a time, so you are never stuck for long. It is a great game to play together: talk through each level, plan who goes first, and laugh when the plan falls apart.

How to Play
Control both characters: Fireboy moves with the arrow keys, and Watergirl moves with W, A and D. Collect the red gems with Fireboy and the blue gems with Watergirl, and avoid the hazards that are deadly for each character: fire kills Watergirl, water kills Fireboy, and green goo kills them both. Press buttons and move levers to open doors, and guide both characters to their matching exit doors to finish the level.
